We are seeking formerly incarcerated people to develop and perform their stories. The goal is to approach the causes and impacts of incarceration from the viewpoint of those who have been incarcerated or have been impacted by the system.

Each performer will develop a story from their own life they will perform on stage. You do not need to have experience as a performer, though we will give special consideration to those with experience in either writing, public speaking, theater, storytelling or, media (podcast, tv or radio).

Each performer will participate in our collaborative workshops with our team of professional theater directors in the months leading up to our live performances. The rehearsals will take place in person and over Zoom, and our performances will take place at various East Bay locations TBD.

Our rehearsal process will begin on June 14, with a second session in September.

Each performer will receive a project stipend to offset their time & travel costs. Questions? Interested in joining a FIPPP rehearsal to get an idea of our process? Contact Co-Executive Director Dylan Russell at dylan@fippp.org.

  • "It is a beautiful storytelling project from formerly incarcerated people. And I recommend the world come and check it out!! I love what FIPPP is doing."

    Tylon Sizemore, FIPPP Fellow

  • I believe shedding light on the stories of formerly incarcerated individuals is a must. I believe the stigma attached to formerly incarcerated people is unfair and takes away their humanity. The narrative needs to change.

    Scott Schell, FIPPP Fellow

  • If there are any questions you wanna ask about people coming home, if you have a family member who is coming home who has been incarcerated and you are trying to have a better understanding of them... ...listen to our stories.
